October 2007 Board Meeting - Open Session and Financials
ASHTON VILLAGE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, INC. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS OCTOBER 18, 2007
The Annual Meeting of Members was held on October 18, 2007 at the community clubhouse located at 3246 Ashlock Drive, Houston, TX 77082. The meeting was called to order by Al Flores, President at 7:05 p.m., once a quorum of homeowners were present either in person or by proxy. Mr. Flores then introduced Sarah Schimmer, Chief Of Staff for City of Houston City Council Member Pam Holm who thanked the Board for the invitation to speak to the Ashton Village homeowners. She then addressed the email received from Russell Hawbaker which included the following: · Neighborhood Protection/311 Helpline · 20G70 – Crime beat number and advised crime stats could be accessed on line. · Street repairs · Used car lot at gas station. · Traffic light.
Each of the five Board Members then introduced themselves as did Susan Vandagriff representing VanMor Properties, Inc. Homeowners also introduced themselves. A motion was made to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the 2006 Annual Meeting of Members. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved. Ms. Vandagriff then presented the financial report as of September 30, 2007. Homeowners were advised that the Board does not anticipate an increase in the 2008 Assessment rate. Committee Reports:
Deed Restriction Amendment – Russell Hawbaker announced that the Board was working on a new updated set of deed restrictions for the community. More information will be provided when available. The next item on the agenda was the election of one director. The floor was open for nominations. John Hunter and Alicia Suaste were nominated. Each candidate was allowed to introduce themselves to the members present. The homeowners were asked to cast their vote. John Hunter was elected to fill a three year term. The Board announced the results of the resident poll regarding whether or not to use lifeguards or to change to a “Swim at Your Own Risk” pool. There were 82 votes to change to a “Swim at Your Own Risk” pool and there were 16 votes to have lifeguards. The Board will use the results to determine how to proceed for the 2008 pool season and budget. There was a motion to adopt the financial report. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved. Homeowners were thanked for their attendance. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
